Public Relations Professionals
Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization (ECPRO) is a
professional organization that fosters an interest in the public
relations field; encourages professional development for those
employed in the public relations field; maintains a high degree
of standards and ethics in the performance of public relations
tasks; offers instruction for accreditation. ECPRO was formed in 1992 and is a member of the

ECPRO members are civic minded and contribute to the local community in a number of ways. One of the organization’s main endeavors is the sponsorship of the Student Public Relations and Media Competition for students in Okaloosa and Walton counties. A foundation has been established to accept tax deductible donations/sponsorships. For more information about the competition

Linda
Evanchyk Nominated for SPRF Educator of the Year
Award
ECPRO is pleased to announce the selection of long time member Linda Evanchyk as its nominee for the SPRF Educator of the Year Award. Choctawhatchee High School journalism and language arts teacher Linda Evanchyk was recently inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame.
Evanchyk, a 1974 graduate of Choctaw, earned her Master's degree in Communications from the University of West Florida. She sponsors the school's award-winning Smoke Signals newspaper, and was selected as the 2009 Florida Journalism Teacher of the Year. Evanchyk is National Board certified in English Language Arts, and has mentored numerous Okaloosa County school teachers to help them achieve the certification.
SPRF established this award to recognize an educator who has taught public relations or a closely-related discipline and who has demonstrated a commitment to advance the profession of public relations. The recipient of this award will be announced at the SPRF annual conference held in Baton Rouge in September.

ECPRO is dedicated to professional development. The ECPRO executive board is committed to devising, formulating and implementing effective and appropriate communication programs for their members. Once a month members meet for a luncheon, which provides networking opportunities and features a guest speaker. Speakers address various PR functions and how they relate to their particular business situations.
ECPRO members are civic minded and contribute to the local community in a number of ways.

| Professional Achievement Award
Nominee is Randy Bobbitt, APR |
Congratulations to Randy Bobbitt, APR who is ECPRO’s nominee for this year’s Professional Achievement Award with the Southern Public Relations Federation.
Randy is an Assistant Professor at the University of West Florida. He holds a B.A. degree in American History from the University of South Florida (1979), a master’s degree in Mass Communication from USF (1989), and a PhD in Communication Law and Policy from Bowling Green State University (1999). He is the author of six books —the latest published in April 2010 entitled,
Us Against Them: The Political Culture of Talk Radio.
Each year, SPRF member organizations (ECPRO, PRAL, PRAM, and PRCA) are invited to nominate one outstanding public relations professional for the SPRF Professional Achievement Award, formerly known as the Practitioner of the Year. The recipient of this award is announced at the SPRF annual conference. SPRF established this award to recognize an individual that has continually demonstrated the highest ideals of the profession as well as a commitment to advance the profession of public relations. |
